OMNIDIRECTIONAL MOTION SYSTEM
The Omnidirectional Motion System is a game-changing technology for the metaverse, inspired by the movie Ready Player One. It utilizes an orthogonal multi-roller system to allow users to naturally walk in an infinite virtual space while physically occupying a 1.5-square-meter pad. The system detects the user's movements and counter-adjusts the rollers in a 360-degree manner to maintain the user's position.
This system employs a low-latency, laser positioning system to accurately and instantly recognize human movements. It seamlessly blends traditional and deep learning methods in motor drive control and human motion compensation control, providing fast and adaptive responses to human movements.
Robotic haptics technology
Force Feedback Operating System
Haptics technology has been a highly sought-after feature for enhancing metaverse experiences. However, until now, the technology has been limited by cost and maturity. STEPVR has developed its own haptic system, comprising of a 6-dof robotic arm, haptic gloves, and a vest. The robotic arm provides counter-forces during physical interactions, such as opening a door or swinging a club. The gloves simulate the sensation of touch when in contact with objects, and the vest is equipped with linear motors to mimic physical touch and impact. This system allows for a full range of haptic experiences.
STEPVR's in-house development ensures a high performance-to-cost ratio. For example, the cost-effective haptic gloves feature over 100 kinetic elements, delivering high-fidelity touch sensations.
The system contains Laser + Inertial mocap gloves designed to provide stable tracking down to the level of individual fingers.
The system’s mocap algorithm is based on inverse kinematics and inverse dynamics, which allows for the real-time generation of detailed and natural motion-solving data.
The system can output stable data over extended periods of time, allowing the motion capture to work stably as long as needed.
The system features 15 pre-configured wearable positions, eliminating the need for customers to fuss with setup, making it incredibly easy to wear and use. These fixed positions allow our motion capture algorithm to immediately utilize the device, eliminating the need for long-term recognition and realignment processes. This streamlines the motion capture process, ensuring a smooth and seamless operation.
The system is immune to interference from ambient electromagnetic fields, ensuring stable and reliable motion capture in any environment.
Sub-millimeter laser-inertial positioning technology
The technology features a comprehensive laser encoding and decoding module, a highly precise and stable dual motor system, unique system error calibration and elimination algorithms, assembly and single laser curved surface techniques which eliminate fixed and periodic errors. As a result, we are able to achieve superior positioning accuracy that outperforms industry competitors. With a stable and highly precise laser inertial multi-sensor fusion algorithm system, the system is enabled to switch between multiple laser sources, continue tracking during short occlusion, and have low latency. Our innovative combination of above mentioned technologies allows for the precise positioning of any number of targets in any shape or size of space. With a currently achieved positioning space of over 5,000 square meters, our system is able to accurately position more than 40 people in full body capture, setting a new standard in the industry.
Our state-of-the-art motion capture system utilizes laser positioning and inertial simulation to achieve a stable and detailed capture of both full body and hand movements.
